Who very handily won re-election last night as Kane County Clerk, I’d like to draw Kane County residents attention to his elections website, which states
How to Obtain an Absentee Ballot
By Mail

So it came as a bit of a surprise to the soldier who wrote this to discover that this was not the case at all.
As he said to me in an email dated 10/29
I sent a request for one yesterday and they said that the deadline was the 25th of october. horeseshit
So this local guy complies with the instructions to vote absentee from his deployment in Afghanistan, sends a request five days before the election – though it’s very hard to communicate or get computer time at his base – and is informed the deadline was October 25th? Where does it say that on the County Clerk’s website? Can someone else find it? I can’t.
In the light of this, my argument yesterday with Cunningham-trained poll workers seems insignificant, however unlawful it was, because as this soldier put it, this is “horseshit.”
