After making 16 similar presentations at public hearings over the course of 10 days in the Fox Valley, and receiving hundreds of tough questions<\/a>, K12 Inc. finally showed up with a panel of executives.\u00a0 I counted seven K12 Inc. executives, one attorney, and three board members from Virtual Learning Solutions.\u00a0 They were all nicely dressed in business attire, their PowerPoint had new graphics, and their data was still non existent. K12 Inc. had 10 days to do their homework and once again failed to produce any substance.<\/p>\n

For almost three hours the D365U School Board kept pushing for data, substance and explanations about K12’s questionable history of grade doctoring, cover-ups, lawsuits, scandals and investor settlements<\/a>.\u00a0 The board was phenomenal, and Dr. Vince Gaddis (NIJwJ Steering Committee member) drove it home in a “worth the watch 12 speech” below the fold.<\/p>\n

Update 4.1.13:<\/strong><\/p>\n

NIJwJ Steering Committee member, Hale Landes writes to inform me that K12 Inc. has not submitted any answers to the attorney’s questions that were asked during the D204 public hearing.<\/p>\n

On March 18th 2013 Indian Prairie School District 204 held a public hearing on <\/span>the proposal for a virtual charter school in our (and 17 other) school dis<\/span>trict. At that time there were many questions asked by the Board that were l<\/span>eft unanswered by the representative of the for profit K 12 inc. The Board r<\/span>equested that K 12 provide their answers in writing by March 22nd 2013. As of <\/span>today, March 31st 2013 the IPSD 204 Board still does not have those answer<\/span>s.<\/span>

The Board will vote on this issue at their meeting on Monday April 8th 2013<\/a> a<\/span>t 7pm<\/a>. I expect the Board will vote NO. It seems likely that all Boards in<\/span>volved will vote no. <\/span>

As IVCS@FRV & K 12 have said in their proposal to the IPSD 204 Board, if the <\/span>Board votes against their proposal they will appeal that to the IL Charter C<\/span>ommission.<\/span>
