I stopped by the Montgomery Menard\u2019s (I boycott anti-union Home Depot <\/a>for their CEO\u2019s effort to kill the Employee Free Choice Act) to pick up some drill bits last week and saw a picket in front of a Buona Beef that was going up in front of the Menard\u2019s.<\/p>\n

As I walked over to the \n\t\t

\n\t\t\t \t\n \"buona\n \t<\/a>\n\t\t <\/div>\n picket line, I found several Fox Valley labor leaders and friends holding signs in front of about 10 inflatable rats.\u00a0 When I asked what was going on, my friends informed me that the owner of Buona Beef was out for an inspection and they were sending a message.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As a vegetarian, I don\u2019t see myself eating at Buona Beef anytime soon, but I felt the need to publish this blog and ask others to not patronize Buona Beef or Home Depot for that matter.\u00a0 If you want to call the owner of Buona Beef and ask him to use living-wage, union contractors in the future, don\u2019t hesitate to call –\u00a0 708.749.2333 (x290)<\/p>\n

A friend with Laborers Local 149 and I talked about the event and the \u201crat picket strategy\u201d and decided that members of labor are going to have to start working more closely with political activists and other community leaders if we want to be more successful in these efforts.\u00a0 You can follow Laborers Local 149 events on their Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I thought this would be a good time \n\t\t
